We previously wrote here on Consumer Electronic Magazine about the biggest TV in the world which is the 152 Inch Panasonic Flat Screen Plasma HDTV. Compared to that world’s biggest TV this post featuring the Panasonic 85 inch television set may seem small. But that’s before you consider that this TV we are talking about can fit in four of the average 42 inch TV sets that sits in most American homes.

In fact Panasonic the 85 inch TV is large enough to almost display a life size image of human being! You can judge the size of the 85″ TV below when you find images of a Japanese salesgirl who stands next to a Panasonic 85 inch TV.

However the price of the Panasonic 85 inch TV is way above the TV budget of the average citizen. Panasonic Corporation’s listed price for the 85″ television set is a small fortune of US $30,000. But if you are really serious you can order it for a 33% discount or at around US $20,000 at Amazon website now. But TV still has it uses and in some businesses it can be wise investment. Take for example this comment we found on Amazon by Cameron Berry;

“I am researching this TV for a client that may need a display this size for an exhibit, they have a need and are willing to pay for it. It is unhelpful to have ignorant reviews from people who do not have an educated viewpoint. I have seen this TV in person, from a demonstration, and can attest that it is quite stunning. If you factor in the price of a projector system you would need to replicate a picture that size that can keep its fidelity in broad daylight and can be used in limited space, the price is not so ludicrous.” – Cameron Berry

So it can really sometimes be a good alternative to large Projector Screen Systems with its high definition video presentation levels. But then strangely a slightly smaller TV than this is available from another Japanese consumer electronics brand, Mitsubishi TVs. The Mitsubishi 82 inch TV is only 3 inches smaller at 82 inches and has a list price of $4,199!

Then what blows your mind away besides the size and price of the Panasonic 85 inch Plasma flat screen television set is its features. It’s a stunning 85″ high definition professional plasma display that delivers the elegance and superb image quality for any installation – whether it’s in a boardroom, classroom, hotel, restaurant, or digital signage environment – while providing full integration in an automated environment.

It has the new large Panasonic 12-Series HD plasma display and the TV is also referred by it’s TV model number – TH-85PF12U. It is the first of Panasonic’s professional displays to incorporate their NeoPDP technology, enabling the display to be larger, thinner, lighter, and more energy efficient. Like previously mentioned it is approximately the size of four 42 inch TVs or five or six times the size of a 32 inch HDTV yet only 3.9″ (99mm) thick. The TV weighs approximately 260.2 lbs. (118 kg) and has a power requirement of 120V AC.

Panasonic professional plasmas are known for their world class image quality. This giant TV unit also has an improved contrast ratio of 40,000:1 (2,000,000:1 dynamic) and the ability to display the equivalent of 6,144 steps of gradation, providing deep black levels and accurate colors that will give the image a higher level of depth.

The versatile Panasonic 85 supports a wide range of applications. The TV incorporates Panasonic’s our multi-function slot architecture to support just about any video input signal that may be required. The Panasonic 85 TV comes with standard dual 1080p HDMI card, the TY42TM6A component card as well as a fixed PC input. Also, this 85 inch TV is equipped with anti-glare glass as standard.

Its true there are bigger TVs for sale like the Panasonic 103 inch TV and the Panasonic 152 inch TV (the wold’s largest plasma flat screen television ) but those are currently not available unless ordered from the manufacturer as far as we can confirm. The Panasonic 152 inch TV is alone reported to be around US $500,000 at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, USA.
